This reference layer is useful for identifying township, section and range locations, the four digit Assessor Township-Range number, and used for the tiling schema for aerial photography. It is not survey accurate.

Where there is a road centerlne, there should be a roadnet edge of surface in this layer. Refer to the most current aerial photos to see actual extent of road surface.
The road centerline layer is used for 911 dispatching and has attributes to support this functionality.
This layer is used in conjunction with the Parcel layer which illustrates the individual condominium units and common areas as indicated on the approved condominium plat.
The parcel layer and Forest (or Federal Land) layer are independently maintained layers. The Forest layer included lands owned by U.S. Forest Service (USFS), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the State of Colorado (State of CO). Approximately 85% of the land area in Pitkin County is Federal Land.
Mining claims are not survey accurate and there have been issues identified with the horizontal accuracy of this data. As methods to improve this become available, GIS staff will update this data.
Open Space lands are shown in this layer with attributes that include ownership, year acquired, property restriction and managing agency.
Open space easements may cover an entire property or only a portion of a property. Attributes include easement holder, year acquired, reception number of easement, and comments about the easement. Recreation easements are illustrated in the Recreation Easements layer.

This layer is a useful reference layer to identify the original configuration of lots and blocks within a subdivision. This layer does not reflect merged “parcels” on the basis of ownership, lot line adjustments, lot splits, nor similar amendments to lot configurations. The Parcel layer reflects all changes to parcel geometry.
The subdivison layer contains descriptive attributes including name, subdivision lot count, subdivision type (lot split, plat, 35 acre exemption, etc.), Board of County Commissioner's approval date.

This layer generally illustrates mile marker post locations along primary roads in Pitkin County. This data is useful for understanding where mile posts are along these roads.
Addresses are assigned by the jurisdiction in which they are located. As address notifications are received from these entities, addresses are added to this layer. Descriptive attributes include street number, street name, building complex, source, jurisdiction and zip code.
Addresses that have previously existed in the County, but no longer a recognized address assignment. This reference layer tracks when, where and why an address has changed.
